  • Fast for at least 6 hours before the scan (Plain water is allowed).
  • Avoid high-carbohydrate meals 24 – 48 hours prior to the scan; prefer high-protein, low-carbohydrate food.
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 – 48 hours before the scan.
  • Diabetic patients: adjust insulin/medications (Desirable RBS – 150 mg/dl or less) as advised by your general physician and please discuss regarding the timing of Insulin before scheduling for the scan.

  • Targeted Therapyin certain specific indications – (Lutetium FAPI/Actinium FAPI) – Precision Oncology and Personalized Cancer Care
  • High tumor-to-background contrast
  • Useful in most of the epithelial cancers with high desmoplastic reaction
  • Faster imaging with minimal patient preparation (No need of fasting, no need to stop diabetic medicationsor insulin, no need to stop any other medications, and can continue their work and activity before and after the scan)

  • No fasting is required before the scan; you can have a light meal and come

FAQ

What is a PET Scan?

A PET scan is a medical test that helps doctors visualize how different parts of your body are functioning. It uses a radioactive tracer that highlights areas of concern, such as cancer, and assesses organ health.

A PET-CT scan typically takes 2 to 3 hours, including the time needed for the injected tracer to distribute through the body, scanning time, and post-scan safety protocols.

PET scans are used to detect cancer, evaluate heart conditions, study brain disorders, assess neurological conditions, and diagnose other medical issues. They provide insights that might otherwise require multiple tests or surgical procedures.

You will receive your PET-CT scan reports by the end of the day via phone. You can also collect a hard copy and a CD of the scan from our center.

Whole-body PET scans help in detecting, staging, and treating cancer accurately. They can pinpoint the exact location of high metabolic activity, aiding in precise diagnosis and treatment planning.

During an FDG PET scan, you will receive an injection of FDG, which contains sugar water and a radioactive tracer. After a waiting period for the FDG to travel through your body, a combined CT and PET scan is conducted to provide detailed images.

Positron Emission Tomography (PET) combined with Computed Tomography (CT) offers both functional and anatomical information. This combination provides a comprehensive picture of your health, pinpointing the exact location of high metabolic activity within the targeted area, which is crucial for accurate diagnosis and effective treatment planning.
